
The full form of KGF is Kolar Gold Fields. It is a mining area located in Kolar district of Karnataka (India). The city is known for its remarkable gold mines. It is located 30 km away from Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. The headquarters of KGF is at Robertsonpet, which is a township of KGF. The mines were closed in 2001 as the production was not up to the investment mark. It is also known as “Little England”. The mines were nationalized in 1956.
The film K.G.F: Chapter 1 and K.G.F: Chapter 2 are centered on this location. It was founded by the Western Ganga dynasty in the 2nd century AD. Both Kannada and Tamil are widely spoken. A total of 900 tons of gold were extracted from the mines. The mines are believed to still contain gold, but they are so deep that obtaining them requires a high level of technology and investment.
