Currently known as ASTM International, the full form of ASTM is American Society for Testing and Materials. Headquartered in Pennsylvania, ASTM is a non profit organization that publishes international standards for machines, products, and materials. It was founded by Charles Dudley in the year 1898 and was called “American Society for Testing Materials”, but later in 1961 the organization officially changed their name to “American Society for Testing and Materials” and finally it Changed from the year 2001 to the present name “ASTM International”.
ASTM currently has offices in countries such as China, Canada, Peru and Belgium. It has over 30,000 members from over 100 countries around the world. It is classified as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization according to the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
